Choosing a Contractor

Choosing a Contractor

There are many options out there in choosing a contractor to work in your home.  With so many options, how do you decide who you’ll choose?  To help make that decision, you may want to ask these questions:

Is the company licensed and insured?

Protect yourself and your property, always use a licensed contractor.

We are licensed, bonded and insured.

How long has the company been in business?

A company that has only been in business a short time may not be as knowledgeable.

We have been in business for over 35 years.

Has the company ever been under a different name?

If they have been in business under a different name, ask why and what other names have they used.  Sometimes when a company has a large number of complaints, they change their name and just keep doing business as usual.

You can check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are complaints about a company at:

We started out in Ft. Myers as Chuck's Plumbing.  When we moved to Hernando County, another company was using that name so ours changed to Chuck Henderson Plumbing, Inc.

Does the price you receive cover everything, any additional fees?

Some companies will give you an up front price, then you find out they have additional fees for installation, administrative fees, etc.  Make sure you have all the information before making a decision.

The price we give you will clearly state what is included, no hidden fees.

Does the contractor offer a warranty?
If an issue does occur with the work you have had done, you don't want any surprises.  Know up front what is and is not covered under warranty.

We warranty any materials we supply and the installation for a period of one year.  Thereafter, the warranty for materials would depend on the manufacturer's warranty.

We do not warranty any materials that we do not supply.  In this case, we would only warranty our installation for a period of one year.  Any warranty issues with owner provided materials would have to be dealt with by the homeowner and the manufacturer.

Who will can you contact if any issues do arise?

Hopefully no issues will arise but we all know that they sometimes do.  You want to know that there will be someone available to deal with those issues.
